Welcome to my blog!!!

I have collected baseball cards and autographs over the years. I still have boxes full of cards (as well as newer cards) that are just sitting there. So, I have decided to see how many of them I can get autographed. I use through the mail as my preferred route for this adventure. I also have an account on Zistle for trading purposes (stevienicks77).

I am currently in graduate school, so it may take me until the weekend to respond to trade requests! I can't get done with school soon enough!

Ron Hassey and Sid Bream

My first TTM of the baseball season came back from Ron Hassey, manager of the New Orleans Zephyrs, AAA team of the Miami Marlins.  I, of course, sent him a bunch of A's cards to sign, since they are one of my favorite teams!

I also sent out mail to Sid Bream, however, he requires a fee for signing ($1/per card, $3/per baseball, etc).  He donates the money to Outdoor Dream Foundation or Liberty University baseball.

Pete Incaviglia

Pete Incaviglia was a huge prospect for the rangers back in the 80's.   He is one of the few players that plays in a MLB game without spending any time in the minors.  He played his college ball at Oklahoma State.

Trade with mkruger743

I recently completed a HUGE trade with mkruger743on Zistle.  I got a ton of cards I needed for several collections.  I didn't scan everything, but I scanned my favorites! Here we go!

Big Mac:

David Wright.  I love the SP cards.  I also got an Alex Gordon one that I posted below.

Geo Soto.  Upper Deck Silver Common and Blue Uncommon, and Topps X-Fractor:

George Brett.  I love the SP and the Donruss Elite!

Mark Grace.  I love the Topps Gallery card.   Very unique.

Starlin Castro:

Alex Gordon:

Terry Steinbach:

Other cards for player collections:

Cubs player collection.  A few of my favorites:

Royals player collection favorites.  Is the Dodgers logo on the Perez a UER?  I tried to research this, and can't find anything on it.

This last card is probably the most interesting to me out of the bunch.  Chad Meyers played for the Cubs and Mariners.  He grew up in Omaha, and my brother-in-law played high school baseball with him at Gross High School.  Chad played his college ball at Creighton University.  His jersey is displayed in the bar area of my favorite restaurant in Omaha, The Bohemian Cafe.  God I love that place!

Trade with buckstorecards

I made another trade via Zistle with buckstorecards.  We have done a trade in the past.  He helped me out by sending me some 1987 Topps and Donruss to help with my set collection.  Here's what else I got:

George Brett player collection:

I've never seen the Score record breaker card before.  I remember when Brett got that 3.000 hit.

Hockey cards:

What am I doing with hockey cards?  I am making a collection of players I used to watch play for the University of Nebraska Omaha Mavericks and Omaha/River City Lancers.  Paul Stastny and Nathan Gerbe both played with the River City Lancers in the early 2000's.

Cubs and Royals collections:

Ike Davis player collection:

Other player collections:

I also have never seen the Grace card before, or heard of Topps stars.  I like it!

David West

David West sent back my cards this week.  He is currently an instructor at Memphis Baseball Academy.  I remember when he was a big prospect when he was in the Mets system.  He won a World Series when he was with the Twins in 1991.

More from Spring Training!

I've received a few more back from Spring Training this week.  This has by far been my most successful Spring Training to date.

Jon Niese from the Mets has started off the year 1-0 in two games.  He has a great signature!

Trade with hpennington22

Another trade via Zistle.  When I was on vacation a week and a half ago, I was bombarded by trades.  I think I'm getting caught up.  This was hpennington22's first trade, and we were able to help each other out.

2013 Gypsy Queen

I was finally on the ball and picked up some cards around their release date.  I picked up these Gypsy Queen cards March 30.   I am a little disappointed with the main set design, but they have some sub-sets that I really like this year.

First card (not a bad way to start):

Player collection cards (out of all the packs I bought, I only got two):

Cubbies:

Short Prints:

Mini Black:

Blue Border (Jason Kipnis strikes again):

Mini Relic:

My two favorite sub-sets are Dealing Aces and Collisions at the Plate.  I wish the Gary Carter was a Mets card, but either way, it's going on my want list.  I got 4 Dealing Aces and 2 Collisions cards in my packs.  Here are my favorites:

Here is probably the worst photo for sliding stars:

I don't know that I consider Price Fielder a "sliding star" when I think of running the bases and stealing bases.
