Welcome to my blog!!!

I have collected baseball cards and autographs over the years. I still have boxes full of cards (as well as newer cards) that are just sitting there. So, I have decided to see how many of them I can get autographed. I use through the mail as my preferred route for this adventure. I also have an account on Zistle and The Trading Card Database for trading purposes (stevienicks77).

Joe Wendle

My first return from the Arizona Fall League.  I was surprised to get this one back!  I had done some research, and couldn't find any thing on whether Mr. Wendle signs or not, but this is a great success, and on one of the 2013 Heritage Minors cards I had.  He's in the Indians minor league system.

Does this happen to anyone else?

I have a gift certificate to my local LCS, and I've been waiting for 2013 Topps Update to come out to use it.  However, I saw some hanger boxes the other day, and I decided to buy two of them.  Now, when I pick out boxes, packs, etc., I am superstitious (if that's what you want to call it), and I don't like to pick two that are next to each other.  Bad decision.  There are 72 cards in each box, so I purchased a total of 144 cards.  33 of the cards were duplicates!  Plus, three cards were damaged.  Ugh!  Topps, way to ruin my new product high!  Should I be mad?  Because I am!

Damaged cards:  Left corner on the Puig(!) emerald.  I love the emerald cards.  Right corner on the other two.  The scan doesn't do it justice, but no one should be getting damaged cards out of the pack!  The Puig corner is minimal compared to the other two.

Here are the 33 (!) duplicates.  All are for trade on Zistle or through here, excpet the Cubs, Royals, and the Jaso card (catcher collection).

Trip to my LCS, part 3

Final post of my most recent trip to my LCS.  The store has a bin where there are old packs of cards from the 80's, 90's and 00's of baseball, football, and basketball.  I can't resist this bin, because I remember the days of opening some of these packs of cards.  I sometimes get something I can use in my personal collection, but most of the cards go to my Zistle account and are available for trade.

Pack 1 was a pack of 1988 Fleer.  I really didn't get anything special, but I'll post what I thought was neat.  Remember these?

I have never seen this subset before!

Token Royal

Pack 2 was a pack of 1991 Upper Deck.  Again, nothing too special.  Some catchers doing some catcher-type things:

A couple of Cubbies!

Pack 3 was a pack of 1992 Stadium Club Series 1.  Here's Jerald Clark.  Looks like he's trying to kick Gregg Jefferies.

Wally Joyner

I got a total of 3 Lance Parrish cards in these packs, one in each pack.

Trip to my LCS, part 2

Part two of my LCS trip.  I have never bought a pack of the Heritage Minor League Baseball before, but I saw packs for sale, so I decided to try it out.  I do like it better than Bowman, simply because I mostly use minor league cards for TTM autos.  It's much easier to send out a Heritage card that I don't have to prep like I have to prep the Bowman cards.  Here's a sample of what I picked:

Pack 1: A couple of Cubs prospects and a Royals prospect.

Pack 2:  Heritage cover boy Carlos Correa

Huge hit!  Numbered 18/50!  This stuff hardly ever happens to me!

Pack 3:  Nothing special as far as my collecting needs, but some prospects anyway

Trip to my LCS, part 1

I got off work early the other day, and I decided to make a trip to the local LCS since I was in the area and it was open.  The store recently moved, so I was eager to see the new place.  They did a great job.  The store is bigger, floor plan is more open, and didn't smell so musty!  I always get a good deal (or at least I think so) when I go, so I'll show you what I got.  This will be a three part post.  I spend a total of $20.00 on this trip to my LCS.

Cubs for my collection:

These George Brett's were in the $1.00 bin!  I got home and realized that I already have the 1991 Upper Deck, so that's now on my trade list on Zistle.

Ike Davis PC:

Cubbies PC:

Hosmer PC.  I also bought a duplicate here of the Hosmer/Belt.  I put that for trade on my Zistle page, too.

2013 Topps Chrome

In the past, I haven't been a fan of Topps Chrome.  I really don't buy the product.  However, I really like the 2013 Topps design this year, and with the teaser photos Topps was posting on Twitter, I decided to buy this year.  I was at Wally World the other day, and saw a 3-fer pack that includes the 3 orange refractors.

Orange refractors:

Pack 1:  Not bad.   A Carlos Santana to add to the catchers collection.  I've been trying to decide if I want to start collecting Paul Goldschmidt cards or not.  If I do, this will be a nice one to add to the collection.

Pack 2:  A couple of rookies and a Cespedes 1972 Topps.  I have also been trying to decided if I want to start collecting Cespedes, as well.

Pack 3:  Winner winner chicken dinner!  A Trout Refractor, and two player collection Royals!  Score!

Overall, I like the cards I bought, and I might buy some more, but I will not try to complete the set.  Good job Topps.
