A surprise TTM envelope!

I got a couple of PWE full of TTM requests back this week.  One was a huge surprise!  I can't even find on my log sheet when I sent it, but it has to be a long time ago because the forever stamp was a plant, it had my maiden name on it and it was in a large envelope instead of a small one.  If I had to guess, I'd say I sent it in 2012ish.

Tommy LaStella

Tommy LaStella has been in the news this spring training, and not for his play.  I'm sure you've seen the articles where he's been parking in the Cubs staff parking, therefore, they stole his uniform.  To counter, he put up a big blow-up house in the Cubs staff parking area.

TTM week

As some of my TCDB friends know, I had my third surgery in less than 10 years on my ankle last week.  I will be down and out for anywhere from 2-6 weeks.  You'd think this would be a great time to get caught up on trades and sorting, but I am non-weight bearing, so getting downstairs to do cards is not an option.  However, I did some surgery pre-prepping to keep me a little busy.  First, I found some cards for spring training TTM requests.  This weekend, I spent my time writing my letters, addressing them and preping my cards.  Other hobby related things that will keep me a little busy are entering my set needs from my "needs binder" into TCDB and continuing to enter my junk wax cards into TCDB and Zistle.

The one thing I can't do is trade!  I have been trying to be good about notifying any trade proposals on TCDB that I can't do it right now, and everyone's been pretty cool about it.

On a good note, I had several TTM PWE come back this week.  Since I can't get downstairs, I downloaded a scanner app to scan my cards.  It's an ok app, but it may be due to the multiple errors of the user!  I'm getting better with it, though.  It will have to do, for now.

Gerald Alexander spend his entire career, although short, with the Texas Rangers.  The Score card I got as part of a repack, so I thought it would make a good TTM request, and, of course, who could pass up a Rated Rookie card.

Jace Peterson is currently in spring training with the Yankees, as a non-roster invitee.  He spent last year with the Braves.  I love the look of the 2012 Bowman gold cards, but they are thick, which makes them back to send as a TTM.  I have done another TTM request with a 2012 Bowman gold, and the same thing happened...creases.

Finally, Walker Buehler sent these cards back.  He spent most of last year with Oklahoma City, however did get a late season call up, where he pitched in 8 games and was 1-0.  He figures to be in competition for a starting position with the Dodgers this year.

Lucas Sims

 I was pleasantly surprised to see this return form Lucas Sims.  I had sent this request to him when he was in the Arizona Fall League in 2015 with the Peoria Javelinas.  Lucas was invited to the Braves spring training last year, but spent time with their AA and AAA teams.  Friday, he was added to the Braves 40 man roster.  Hopefully, he'll be pitching for the Braves in 2017!!!

Mark Grant

Mark Grant is currently a broadcaster for the Padres.  I had written these cards off long ago, but I am excited to have them back.  For some reason, I appreciate the '88 Donruss and how the autograph looks on those cards.

Jason Hursh

I finally had the time the last couple of weeks to get caught up on some trades and mailing out a few more TTMs before the end of the season.  I got this one back pretty quickly from Jason Hursh.  He was drafted in the 1st round last year by the Braves.  He has spent all year with Mississippi, posting a 11-7 record, 3.58 ERA, and 83 strike outs.

Another great return last week, this one from Terry Pendleton.  I had a heck of a time deciding what cards to send for him to autograph.  I decided on one Braves card and one Cardinals.  He played so well for both teams, earning an MVP with the Braves in 1991.

Brandon Beachy from Spring Training

Wow!  One that I thought was long gone from Spring Training this year showed up in my mailbox from Brandon Beachy of the Braves.  Beachy is rehabbing in the minors from Tommy John surgery last June.  He only has a few more starts to make before he rejoins the dangerous Braves!  I might have to look at him as a waiver wire pick up in fantasy baseball!

Last post from my big TTM week

I was really excited when I got home Wednesday to see that I had 3 familiar looking envelopes on my counter!

Shawn Camp is currently pitching for my Cubs.  I am hoping to get more current Cubs autographs this year.  When I buy baseball cards, I never get many Cubs cards, but that could be because they haven't had very many players to get excited about, or make cards of.  Who knows?  I think he has a very interesting signature.
