Welcome to my blog!!!

I have collected baseball cards and autographs over the years. I still have boxes full of cards (as well as newer cards) that are just sitting there. So, I have decided to see how many of them I can get autographed. I use through the mail as my preferred route for this adventure. I also have an account on Zistle and The Trading Card Database for trading purposes (stevienicks77).

2016 Topps Opening Day

I was so glad I went to Toys R Us to pick this box up.  Normally $20 at Walmart, I got this for $12.99 here.  I was rewarded for my efforts!

A visit to Toys R Us

My local Walmart has moved the sports card section a couple of months ago.  Since the move, they haven't stocked anything, or else someone is all of the sudden snatching it all up.  Anyway, I got tired of seeing this and decided to visit the Toys R Us to pick up a box of 2016 Topps Opening Day (I'll get to that tomorrow).  It's actually much closer to my house anyway.  While I was there, they had a sale on boxes, and I decided to jump on a 2015 Bowman box.  After opening this box, I just may have to complete the set.  Too bad hot rookies like Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber are in there.

Matt Diaz

I almost gave up on this one!  It's been about a year since I sent this out.

Fantasy Baseball Draft

I had my fantasy baseball league draft last weekend.  I'm not sure how I did, but CBS Sportsline tells me I got a draft grade of B.  My top three draft picks based on value and draft spot were Jason Kipnis, Travis d'Arnaud, and Chris Davis.  My worst three were Zack Greinke, Marco Estrada, and Gerrit Cole.  Here's how I picked; it was not my best draft ever, not my worst.  Here are the cards I have of my fantasy baseball team.

 Team Sponge Babe

1st Round - Needed some OF power
2nd Round - Needed a big time pitcher
3rd Round - Again wanted more pitching
4th Round - More power and versatility with 1B/OF option, but a lot of strikeouts.
5th Round - 3B was going quickly at this point in the draft, and I wanted to get someone decent
6th Round - 1B was going quickly, too
7th Round - Another power pitcher
8th Round- Pitching was going quick, and I panicked
9th Round - Hopefully a sneaky pick-up; high risk pick
10th Round - Again, pitching going quickly and I panicked
11th Round - Reliever time
12th Round - I know he's suspended, but I hope this is a steal later in the year
13th Round - I did not like this pick, but there was not much left.  Although, should I need to drop him, Yadier Molina is available in the free agent pool.
14th Round - Solid player.
15th Round - Hopefully a nice pick-up.  He was downgraded due to injury, so I hope to have made a good move.
16th Round - There were not many OF left, and if Piscotty doesn't work out, I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
17th Round - I didn't like this pick, but I didn't have a choice.  Hopefully he'll prove me wrong.
18th Round - My fill in until Chapman is off suspension.
19th Round - Hopefully he'll have a nice year, but lots of strike outs here
20th Round - My "oops" pick.  I meant to pick up another SS, but got him instead.  I feel like I have too many Rangers on my team.  He did just hit 3 HR yesterday...maybe my future utility guy?
21st Round - The world champion Royals opening day pitcher in the last round, in a Royals fantasy baseball league.  I picked him up late last year, too, and he was very consistent.  Here's to (I think) an awesome last pick!

Kennys Vargas

Kennys Vargas was the Twins' starting DH last season, however, a not so great spring training this year got him a demotion to the minor league camp.  Here's to hoping he makes it back with the big club soon!

Zistle trade with scottbdoug

I'm starting to get busy with school again, so I have to slow down the trading for now, but I was able to complete this one with scottbdoug.  He set me up with some cards for my player collections!
